Butter!

We made butter!

At first we had no idea what was going to happen. We just poured cream into a jar and added some salt and then we had to shake the jar (with the lid closed) for at least 10 mins. We learnt to take turns and work with each other to make sure we followed the instructions.

After lots of shaking the cream went hard and we had BUTTER!

Concluding conversations

Today, we had concluding conversations. This was where we shared our learning with other learners. We worked with Room 19. They came to our class first and then we went to theirs.

We loved looking at all the learning they had done.

Reading Challenge

In the Whanaungatanga PLG we had a reading challenge. For Room 15 we had to read 15 books. Other classes had different targets.

Around 10 learners reached their target and got to go to the party. They got to watch a movie and have a shared lunch.

We also had a character parade. We dressed up as characters from books we had read. Room 15 were the best class as we had the most dressed up!

See if you can guess who we are!

We looked awesome and paraded around the school to show the classes the effort we had made. We showed Whaea Janet and Room 16, Miss K and Room 19, Mrs Abraham and Room 5, Mrs Davies and Room 2, Mrs S and Room 4 AND even Mrs Wilson and Ms Edwards.

Science Fair

On the 18th of September we had our school science fair.

This was to showcase our learning over the term. We displayed our science process and what we did to get to our inquiry of butterflies.

Check out our science learning journey!

More science experiments

We have done more experiments over the term. These have all been to do with the theme of change. Look at how we changed the colour of a white flower!

We also have made an egg float - we only used water and salt.
We observed that when we put the egg in the water it sank and when we added salt it floated.
Using the iPads we found out that the egg sank in tap water because the egg was more dense (heavier) than the water. The egg floated in the salt water because the egg was less dense (lighter).
