Milk in schools
Today we had milk in schools for the first time. We all enjoyed our milk and want to thank Fonterra for allowing it to happen!
We also learnt how to fold it so it can be recycled to make things like roof tiles.
We even got an award from Whaea Donna for folding and recycling our containers correctly!

Monster stories
In Room 15 we have been learning to add detail in our stories. We made our monsters using our hand or footprints then added detail.
You can read some of our stories below...
Once upon a time a planet full of monsters were very happy. One monster was very nice. She had green and red hair, a red body, white legs and arms, one eye and sharp teeth. They were very happy until one day the army made a time machine and came to the planet. The soldiers started to shoot the monsters. The monsters said "stop shooting us. Please stop or we'll come to your country and hurt your people, so stop." "Alright." They stopped and went back to their own land and lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time in a jungle of pyramids there was a lot of people that wanted to go in the pyramid. But one day a scary monster named Tim. He destroys pyramids and everyone was scared. Tim was sad, he wanted to make friends. So he went home and sent an invitation to all of his friends to a party so he could have fun. So Tim stopped breaking pyramids and everyone came to his party and asked him to be his friend and Tim said "yes." So everyone lived happily ever after.

Buddy class
We love buddy time with room 2. Last week we made flowers for Mrs Prasad to communicate we love her.
We had to listen carefully to the instructions so we knew what to do.
We used tissue paper and pipe cleaners - they looked so cool!

Character counts
We are a school that think it is important to show good character. This means we use our values: respect, responsibility, consideration, compassion, kindness, duty, obedience, honesty and truthfulness!
Our PLG Whanaungatanga decided to show good character and clean up all the rubbish at our school.
Check out us picking up all the rubbish.

Butter!
We made butter!
At first we had no idea what was going to happen. We just poured cream into a jar and added some salt and then we had to shake the jar (with the lid closed) for at least 10 mins. We learnt to take turns and work with each other to make sure we followed the instructions.
After lots of shaking the cream went hard and we had BUTTER!

Concluding conversations
Today, we had concluding conversations. This was where we shared our learning with other learners. We worked with Room 19. They came to our class first and then we went to theirs.
We loved looking at all the learning they had done.

Reading Challenge
In the Whanaungatanga PLG we had a reading challenge. For Room 15 we had to read 15 books. Other classes had different targets.
Around 10 learners reached their target and got to go to the party. They got to watch a movie and have a shared lunch.
We also had a character parade. We dressed up as characters from books we had read. Room 15 were the best class as we had the most dressed up!
See if you can guess who we are!
We looked awesome and paraded around the school to show the classes the effort we had made. We showed Whaea Janet and Room 16, Miss K and Room 19, Mrs Abraham and Room 5, Mrs Davies and Room 2, Mrs S and Room 4 AND even Mrs Wilson and Ms Edwards.

Science Fair
On the 18th of September we had our school science fair.
This was to showcase our learning over the term. We displayed our science process and what we did to get to our inquiry of butterflies.
Check out our science learning journey!
